This page is devoted to the story of some ones first time experience of coarse fishing.

These pictures are large, please wait a while for them to load.

That some one is Yvonne, that's the one in the pink "Hunter" wellies, I think Yvonne bought these at the time when Hunter were getting into difficulty.

Darren, you note, doesn't wear pink wellies, finding the more staid, professional Devon Fishing footwear to be the correct form of dress at Newbarn Farm Selfcatering Cottages and Angling Centre and I have to say that I can't disagree with him, but he did provide Yvonne with some useful fishing tips.

Sorry I've dropped that

Right, now two pictures which show how great Devon Fishing can be in the wettest June on record.

To the best part, Yvonne's first fish ever caught and on a pellet, a Bream, Darren was a little miffed as he hasn't caught a Bream on Willow himself.

But then as he was the one ground baiting with Trout bait, corn and hemp, he should get the glory anyway, a Devon Fisherman opposite got up and said he was off to get some pellet.

Darren wets the catch bag before lifting the fish onto it and keeps the fish out of water for the minimum time possible.

However, the fish can be a bit skittish

And then to the photo opportunity, where I think Bertie Bream is the star

Yvonne's first Roach, from acorns mighty oaks do grow.

See, bigger already.

Dan joins in to discuss the merits of the Roach, Newbarn farm has been voted in the top 10 for Roach fishing in the country for the Devon Fishing, Roach specimen fisherman.

I think Yvonne should be ready for her first fishing tournament, maybe even some Carp Fishing

Then Yvonne said, Simon you have a go, so under the careful guidance of Darren and Dan, I brought out my first Bream as well.

Now the moral of this story, is that anyone can fish, as with anything, the more you do, the better you get, the more you learn, the more you understand what the fish want and how to tempt them.

Yvonne and I fish under the Newbarn Farm Cottages and Angling Centre Fishing License

Don't worry, you'll love it.
