Tasty Tuna

When fishing in Devon Tuna has proven to be a major top bait for catching Carp over the years, producing a regular good performance for good weights. We have been using it for a long time at Newbarn to catch some very large Carp, try using Tuna Boillies and pop ups.

But the problem is which tuna to use, tuna in brine or in oil? and yes, I know, how do the Carp get in the tin? By using the ring pull of course. Soppy!

Tuna is a great additive for a ground bait mix and great for attracting Carp and Bream. I am sure you have seen the Tuna flavour additives that are available on the market. Why use an additive when you can have the real thing, cheaper! Devon fishing holidays is a devotee of value for money.

Another great additive for a ground bait is salt, so an ideal tinned tuna would be tuna in brine as the salt content helps as an added extra to the ground bait mix.

However the brine is not PVA friendly so if using a tuna and pellet mix it is best to drain the brine off and add a little hemp oil or a PVA friendly oil to the dry flakes to produce a very effective ground bait.

If you don’t want to make your own, there are numerous Tuna cocktails on the market that you can buy. We sell them at our self catering cottages and fishing centre.
