High Protein Paste

 A fishing in Devon, different recipe for a high protein paste.

 At our Devon fishing holidays centre we get all the bits that you need, Richworth’s freezer bait K-G-1 base mix, eggs, base mix liquid additive, a syringe and a mixing bowl.

The K-G-1 itself is based on a low temperature fishmeal with added milk products to ensure the bait has a balanced nutritional profile, the finished baits roll well and then boil up firm enough to withstand the attentions of nuisance fish. a base mix and matching liquid additive are also available with the highly attractive Impact Boillie dip.

At our holiday cottages and fishing centre we first crack a couple of eggs into the bowl.

Then add the K-G-1 liquid additive, use about 5ml per egg and mix the 2 together.

Then add the K-G-1 base mix to the mix and add a little at a time.

You can try adding a teaspoon of egg albumen powder sometimes and see if you can detect a difference.

Make sure you mix it well to get an even consistency  

Leave to stand and thicken before adding more

Now the paste is made, it can be melded around a cork ball as a popup, it can be shaped as boillies and or thrown in as free bait for the fish.

Richworth also produce a number of different ready-made dumbell boillie pellets to complement their range of baits. You can make them up using the complex base mix, with half the recommended dosage of the complementary liquid.

Using small dumbell hook baits is different to the predictable round boillie approach, and can be effective on lakes that are heavily pressured. Whether you roll them up yourself, or buy them ready rolled, they’re definitely worth experimenting with.

At our self catering cottages and fishing centre we try coating freezer baits with different spray on flavours, let them thaw and the flavours are drawn into the bait.
